The Red Lion’s Seal (from ongoing game)
The Gilded Wyvern tavern breathed the particular morning smell of woodsmoke, ale, and ambition—three scents that had become inseparable in Aldric Thor...
Veltharis is a fractured continent of shattered kingdoms and contested frontiers, where six distinct species vie for dominance across varied landscapes—from the crystal spires of the Aetherborne highlands to the sulfuric swamps of the Krolax depths. Surface kingdoms battle over resource-rich borderlands while underground empires expand through ancient tunnel networks. The world operates on a tiered cosmology where leylines of raw magic pulse beneath the earth, creating zones of wild enchantment that both unite and divide civilizations.
The Sundering, occurring three thousand years ago, shattered the unified Elder Empire when the dragon-god Valdris tore the continent apart in his death throes. Each species emerged from the cataclysm claiming dominion: the human Kingdoms of the Dawn built feudal societies on the central plains; the elves of the Silvaren Covenant retreated to enchanted forests and developed nature-binding magic; the dwarven Iron Clans tunneled deep, uncovering runic smithcraft in forgotten mines; the reptilian Krolax Swarm dominates the southern marshlands through brute force and blood-pacts; the winged Aetherborne claim the sky-high peaks and harness storm-magic; and the mysterious Umbralith, shadow-born humanoids, manipulate from the darkness between places. Magic in Veltharis is drawn from five distinct sources—the Wild Flow, Blood Ties, Runic Carving, Aether Storms, and Umbral Shadows—each species having mastered different forms. The Veil War that ended fifty years ago saw temporary alliances collapse into renewed conflict, leaving border territories in perpetual dispute. Ancient ruins from the Elder Empire contain lost magics that all factions desperately seek, making treasure hunters and explorers highly valued and highly endangered.
Veltharis pulses with grim determination—war drums echo across contested borders while scholars decipher fragmentary texts in hopes of uncovering Elder Empire secrets. The world balances on a knife-edge of fragile truces, where betrayal lurks in every treaty and glory awaits those bold enough to seize it. Yet amid the conflict
